Queensland’s Satellite Hospital Program
Queensland Government’s recent $265 million investment in healthcare is delivering seven new satellite hospitals to South East Queensland.
The facilities are designed to support major hospitals by providing the option to access healthcare for minor injuries and illness within the patient’s own local community.

Each hospital will meet the needs of its local community by offering services which may include:

- Care for minor injuries and illnesses
Which areas miss out?
The focus for the Satellite Hospital Program has been on South East Queensland. Areas to the west, central, and northern Queensland have not been included in this round of development, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be the focus of Queensland’s investment in healthcare in the future. For now, healthcare in regional Queensland could still involve long journeys for treatment and a potential shortage of medical professionals.

The Gold Coast Satellite Hospital will be located on 1.4 hectares at 57 Boyd Street, Tugun.
