Suburbs flanking the Gold Coast CBD tend to be somewhat underrated and easily forgotten when, in fact, they have so much going for them. Not everyone can afford a property at the beach, but real estate in Ashmore, Arundel, Molendinar and Parkwood certainly allows everyone, from singles to families, to experience a Gold Coast lifestyle at an affordable price.
Real Estate in Ashmore
When you want to live on the Gold Coast but away from the hustle and bustle, Ashmore is the place to be. Just five minutes to the beach, Ashmore is leafy, parks are plentiful, and there are lovely views. It’s the convenience of Ashmore that people love with localised shopping centres and all the conveniences like banks, bakers, chemists, professionals and medical centres. If you’d prefer the Gold Coast lifestyle but work in Brisbane, it’s only a 40-minute commute.
Real Estate in Ashmore is in high demand, particularly for families, not only because of the coastal lifestyle and convenience but because the properties are still so affordable; a three bedroom home only $546,000 on average (as of Nov 2018). There’s a property for everyone in Ashmore, properties for the budget conscious and properties for those seeking a more stylish lifestyle.
Real Estate in Arundel
Arundel is a hidden gem, only 4km to the beach and close to the Broadwater where you can walk all the way to Southport. Arundel has a great mix of properties ranging from small low maintenance homes and townhouses great for investors and first home buyers to golf course and luxury homes.
Not only is the proximity to the water a drawcard for Arundel, so is the easy access to the M1, and it’s proximity to the Gold Coast University Hospital. Public transport is readily available in Arundel, and the ultra-popular Harbourtown shopping precinct is located in the neighbouring suburb, Biggera Waters.
Although property here is not in as high demand as Ashmore, likely due to some small lots and narrow streets, Arundel has potential given its location and increasing infrastructure.
Real Estate in Molendinar
Ashmore’s neighbour, Molendinar, is a favourite family suburb that’s close to the Gold Coast CBD, the University Hospital, Griffith University and Australia Fair Shopping Centre. Even better, it’s just a ten-minute drive to the beach, close to theme parks; there’s easy access to the M1, public transport by road and rail and plenty of schooling options for the kids.
Predominantly a mix of lowset and highest brick homes, Molendinar is a planned estate with properties boasting good sized yards and wide streets, many located in the popular Crestwood Heights section of the suburb.
Real Estate in Parkwood
The neighbouring suburb of Molendinar and Arundel, Parkwood is another family favourite close to amenities, the benefits of the Gold Coast and with its international golf course.
The majority of dwellings in Parkwood are low set brick homes on good sized blocks, with properties bordering the golf course in high demand. Parkwood has plenty of greenery and nature strips and now has two of its own tram stops, Parkwood and Parkwood East, making the suburb even more convenient to the likes of Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.
Parkwood is close to a number of schools, private schools, Griffith University and the University Hospital. The local bus service goes through Parkwood, Helensvale train station is six kilometres away, and a trip into Brisbane will take about an hour which, is worthwhile considering a family lifestyle close to the beach and an international golf course.
